Comfortable body pillows offer support,
relief and a restful night's sleep to thousands every night!
Are you a restless sleeper? Do you wake up with pain or
stiffness? Are you pregnant or nursing a baby? Do you wedge
a half dozen pillows around you at night to get comfortable?
Do you suffer from low back pain, shoulder, neck or hip
pain? Do you suffer from arthritis? Do you have insomnia?
Are you currently bedridden? Do you suffer from chronic
fatigue or fibromyalgia?
Then any good doctor would probably advise you to sleep with
a body pillow. Being an occupational therapist AND someone
who has experienced EVERY problem listed above over the
course of my life, I truly know the difference a body pillow
can make! I got my first body pillow when I was pregnant.
Believe me, how much better I slept with support for my
belly, back, and hips. In fact, I couldn't even sleep
without it as my muscles and ligaments would scream in pain!
After my daughter was born, I continued to sleep with a body
pillow (since it was so comfortable) and began using it for
nursing, feeding, as well as for a "bed guard" for my baby
if she was sleeping somewhere she might roll off. It's
multiple uses make body pillows an invaluable and
"must-have-item", especially for moms! (hmmm... what a great
Mother's Day or "Mothers To Be Day" gift)
The other uses for body pillows, of course, have to do with
getting pain-free, good quality sleep with proper spinal
alignment and support for muscles and joints for men, women
and children alike. If you are like me, you may have spent
years setting up and snuggling with 4 or 5 pillows all over
your bed. Or even used stuffed animals (in the younger years
of course) or your spouse as your own personal body pillow.
Unfortunately, none of these techniques seem to consistently
endure the nighttime tossing and turning. Either your
pillows or your spouse tend to "wander" away or fall on the
floor (the pillows that is).
But the great news is, body pillows are here and make a
wonderful positioning and hugging companion throughout the
entire night. They come in several different shapes which
will allow you to pick the perfect one for your specific
needs.
Some of the styles you will find include:
pregnancy or maternity body pillows
bed lounge or reading body pillows
knee and leg body pillows
orthopedic body pillows
back and belly contoured body pillows
U shaped body pillows
circular body pillows
Body pillows are also made of a variety of materials and
fillings that will give the extra support and fantastic
sleeping comfort you need and desire. These include:
