Comforters Provide Superior Warmth And Comfort
Goose down comforters are filled with a combination of down and goose
feathers. Down is a soft undercoating found on waterfowl, and an
excellent natural insulator used in goose down comforters. With the
insulating power that keeps geese warm even in the harshest winter

Goose down comforters are made with a 220 thread count, or better, outer
shell which is tightly woven to prevent the down from escaping. Goose
down comforters must also have at least 70% down inside in order to
legally be labeled goose down comforters.
In order to determine the insulating power or 'fill power' of goose down
comforters, you must first determine how many cubic inches one ounce of
down will take up inside the shell. The higher the 'fill power', the the
lighter the down and the more insulating power it will have. Typically,
goose down comforters have a fill power somewhere in the neighborhood of
500 to 650, with the higher number being the better insulator.
For those allergic to goose down comforters, there are synthetic fills
with insulating qualities to rival those of the natural down used in
goose down comforters.
Goose down comforters tend to be rather large and puffy, so it's a good
idea to have them professionally cleaned, though down does wash quite
easily. A duvet cover is an excellent product for protecting comforters
from excessive wear and keeping them clean.
Goose down comforters come in a variety of sizes to fit most standard
